The Newbury of Brookline Launches Respite Care Program to Support Seniors and Caregivers

The Newbury of Brookline, a Kisco Senior Living community, has introduced a respite care program to provide temporary accommodations for seniors in the Boston area, featuring personalized care, spacious residences, and chef-prepared meals. The program includes the Tovertafel interactive game projection system to support cognitive and physical wellbeing, addressing the needs of seniors and their caregivers.

Frances Bates, general manager at The Newbury of Brookline, emphasized the program's role in mitigating the challenges faced by caregivers, particularly the 11 million Americans providing unpaid care for individuals with dementia. With 70% of these caregivers experiencing high stress levels, the respite care program offers a vital solution by ensuring seniors receive care in a safe environment while caregivers take necessary breaks.

This initiative underscores the importance of supporting both seniors and their caregivers, highlighting a model that could encourage similar programs across the country to alleviate the emotional and physical demands of caregiving.
